    • Pulled truck into shop for inspection. Checked all fluids and found that the power steering fluid was slightly low (topped off) Also noticed that the engine oil was about a 1qt low (topped off) Transfer case fluid is very dark. (Recommend service) Cooling system is very acidic (6.5ph and no freeze protection) Recommend service. Inspected all steering suspension and brakes. Front brakes are down to 3mm of life and highly recommend replacing before a long trip. Drive line center support bearing rubber is torn and this will cause a vibration (needs replaced ASAP) Ball joints have minor play (okay at this time) and all tie rod ends have play (needs replaced but not a safety issue) Inspected engine and did noticed a small oil leak on the front crank seal area. Recommend putting dye in the oil so we can pin point this leak in the future. Checked 4wd operation and it is working properly at this time. Parking brake holds properly. (okay at this time) Test drove truck and notice that the fuel gauge is reading empty. We have notes about this issue from previous visits. Recommend removing fuel tank and sweep testing fuel level sending unit. If this unit test bad then replacement will be needed.
    • -Removed the front wheels and brake calipers to the side. Removed the rotors and replaced with new and applied a non directional finish to help the new pads break in correctly. Cleaned the caliper slides and reassembled with new front brake pads with anti-squeal to the backing. Repacked the front wheel bearings and replaced new seals as needed. Torqued the calipers and wheels to specs then road tested. Burnished in the front pads on the road test. The brakes work good.

    • Technician confirmed the P2290 code, ICP Too Low. Engine has a miss, smokes when revved up with pressure slow to build when the truck is cold. Technician ran the engine for about 4 minutes then tried to restart the truck and it would not refire. The ICP is only building 300psi. Unplugged the module from the sensor and it would only build 250psi, this indicates a high pressure oil leak or IPR valve. Performed a high pressure oil test and heard a severe leak around the High Pressure Oil Pump area on the passenger side where the pump outlet is. Technician suspects the STC fitting at the pump is leaking or the pump itself is leaking.

    • Has new plugs, coils and fuel filter. This helped a little, but still is not running right. Pulled van into the shop for inspection and did noticed that there was a fuel cap message on the dash. Inspected fuel cap and found that it is the wrong cap and will not thread in and seal tight. Install the correct cap and now this message is gone. Did confirm engine miss when pulling into the shop for inspection. Scanned computer for codes and found P0171 bank 1 too lean, P0174 bank 2 too lean, P0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected and P0457 Evap system leak detected. Fuel cap fixed the P0457 Evap code. Removed cylinder #1 coil and swapped it with cylinder #5 and now engine is setting a code for cylinder #5 misfire. This proves cylinder #1 coil is bad. Needs new coil and boot.
    • Inspection completed. See attached worksheet
    • #3 IGNITION COIL – Remove & Replace – V8 One
    • -Removed the rear wheel and brake calipers. Removed the rotors and replaced with new and applied a non directional finish to help the new pads break in correctly. Repacked rear wheel bearings and replaced seals as needed. Adjusted the rear park brakes to specs. Torqued the wheels to specs then road tested. Burnished in the rear pads on the road test. The brakes work good.
